Yes, the New Year’s Eve Ball drop and fireworks will continue for another year! Thanks to generous donations from several local businesses, we are moving forward with plans for the festivities in Russell Park. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on the website as plans become finalized.
The Akron Celebration Committee sponsors two main events for the community throughout the year. One is the Fourth of July gala parade and fireworks, the other being the New Year’s Eve ball drop and fireworks. We rely solely on donations and volunteers to make these events happen. Please consider making a donation so we are able to ring in New Year’s in Russell Park. Donations can be sent to: Akron Celebration Committee, PO Box 16, Akron NY 14001.
The Akron Celebration Committee is a non-profit organization that is 100% made up of volunteers. Individuals in the community volunteer their time to plan and run the 4th of July celebration and New Year's Eve Fireworks Display. The task of planning and running these events is no small feat so there is a constant need for more volunteers.
We strive to always provide our community with a quality 4th of July Celebration and Parade for all to enjoy. For it to be great and run smoothly, a strong group of volunteers is needed to make that happen.
We need your help! All we ask is please volunteer as much time and effort you have available, we always work hard to make volunteering with us a fun and enjoyable experience.
Regular meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. They are held in the upstairs meeting room of the Akron-Newstead Library.
The next meeting is set for December 13th, 6:30pm, in the upstairs meeting room of the library. As always, we are in need of Volunteers.
